In collaboration with the Peter Spencer Heritage Hallway Committee at Mother African Union Church, the Jane and Littleton Mitchell Center for African American Heritage at the Delaware History Museum invites families to join us as we celebrate the legacy of Peter Spencer through “Press On, Peter!,” a family-friendly dramatic presentation on the ideals and actions of Spencer in his work to establish the first-ever incorporated Black church in 1813. This program is designed to supplement learning about Spencer and Mother Africa Church during Mother Africa’s 2023 August Quarterly Festival (August 20 – 27). Come enjoy the performance and explore August Quarterly through the images and objects in the “Forging Faith” exhibition! We cannot wait to welcome you here!
